Toru Takemitsu
Works for Guitar & Ensemble
An heir to Debussy, Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu
(1930-1996) had a wide-ranging musical imagination.
He was able to create atmospheric tone poems, avant-garde
masterpieces, and affecting arrangements of Beatles
songs. Takemitsu left an important body of chamber
works with guitar that includes many styles of
music from across his wide musical outlook. This
performance featuring guitarist Antigoni Goni,
"one of today's most compelling young talents"
(Guitar Review), will showcase Takemitsu's varied
output.
